Lenovo ThinkPad Battery Recall
Lenovo has recalled Lithium-ion extended-life batteries used in their ThinkPads. The batteries were manufactured by Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd., of Japan.
If the battery is struck on the corner, during a fall for example, the battery pack can overheat and poses a fire hazard. Four reports have been received already. The recalled battery is a 9-cell with part number FRU P/N 92P1131 on the label.
Stop using the battery and contact Lenovo to receive a free replacement. Lenovo can be reached at (800) 426-7378 or you can visit their Battery Recall page to figure out if your battery is part of the recall and to order a replacement.
The CPSC (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) web site contains the complete recall notice which includes a product image.
